The Jura’s educational system enjoys a strong reputation. Several comparative studies have ranked the canton among the best in Switzerland. The public education offer is complemented by various private institutions.

Sports-Arts-Study scheme
Does your child have a special talent? In the Jura, the Sports-Arts-Study (SAE) scheme enables pupils in lower and upper secondary education who are particularly gifted in sport or the arts to combine pursuing their education with developing their talent. The lycée theatre course is unique in French-speaking Switzerland.

French-German and French-English bilingual streams
The canton offers immersive teaching in German. For their part, German-speaking pupils can take half a day of lessons in their mother tongue. The canton’s proximity to Laufon, where German is spoken, means that school-leavers can complete their twelfth year there while living in the Jura. The cantonal lycée (high school) offers preparation for the bilingual French-German Maturité baccalaureate exams, while the private Collège and Lycée Saint-Charles offers preparation for the bilingual French-English Maturité baccalaureate exams.
